Family Rounds

New in 2013, Hope Network is offering monthly educational programming specifically for parents of people with autism, called Family Rounds. An extension of the lecture series Grand Rounds, which began in 2012 for professionals and the public, Family Rounds will provide a specific forum with resources and information for parents of people with autism. Parents will learn about solutions available to them, network with other parents and autism professionals, and help build a knowledgebase of the tools in the community that parents in West Michigan need to help their sons and daughters thrive

The topic matter will address an array of areas, including social development, available organizational resources, housing options, financial support, job placement and coaching, continuing education, transitioning to independence, federal/state/municipal support, and emotional wellbeing.

RSVP is optional, but appreciated. Please email attendance to CFARounds@hopenetwork.org.

MEG Coherence Imaging: Does Altered Neural Connectivity Explain the Cognitive Profile of ASD?

This talk will examine whole-brain patterns of coherence (ie: synchrony of neural oscillations) in ASD compared to neurotypicals (NT) while undergoing magnetoencephalography (MEG). Coherence between brain regions is essential for long- and short-range connectivity. The results provide preliminary support for increased posterior connectivity and decreased anterior to posterior, long-range connectivity in ASD. The implications for how this might affect the cognitive and behavioral features of ASD will be discussed.

Please RSVP to CFARounds@hopenetwork.org
