Respite Services

Caring for a person with special needs can be a full-time endeavor. When you need assistance and time to refresh, the Mercy Respite and Community Living program can provide quality substitute care, giving you time to renew or time to be involved in other areas of interest.

Mercy Respite is a state-licensed Adult Foster Care home providing long-term residence for nine individuals and additional beds for full or part-time respite care. Five overnight beds are regularly available by reservation for short-term respite care and provide quality service in the community.

Mercy Respite is conveniently housed in a barrier-free facility on East Fulton Street in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Those requiring wheel chair accessible accommodations for respite stays will enjoy easy navigation throughout the facility, including the outdoor patio and community recreation areas.

Respite guests are encouraged to participate in the many daily activities offered at Mercy Respite. Music, arts and crafts, and a host of other activity options - including community outings - are available.

Personal care needs, room charges, nutritious meals and medication supervision/administration are all included in the daily fee for respite care.

Advance reservations are necessary to ensure availability. When calling for your reservation, you will receive enrollment instructions so that the necessary paperwork can be completed in advance.

A scholarship fund is available by application to provide reduced cost care for those who qualify.  For Kent County residents, contact Network 180's ACCESS Center to determine eligibility for Respite through Medicaid.

For reservations at Mercy Respite, or more information, call 616.458.4766.
