Hope Network Refocuses Organization to Meet Greatest Needs, Sells Neuro Rehabilitation to National Leader

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (June 28, 2022)– As part of Hope Network’s statewide refocusing effort to meet the most critical care needs, the non-profit has agreed to sell its Neuro Rehabilitation program to NeuroRestorative, a leading provider of community-based rehabilitation services for individuals with brain and spinal cord injuries and other catastrophic injuries and illnesses.

For several years, Hope Network leadership has been assessing all of the agency’s service lines, including Neuro Rehabilitation, as part of their mission to do what’s best for the people they serve. “Everything we do at Hope Network begins with the question, ‘How can we make the biggest possible impact?’” said Phil Weaver, Hope Network CEO. “Our assessments led to discussions with NeuroRestorative—the ideal organization to continue the standard we’ve set for neuro rehabilitation as we refocus our efforts for the future.”

As part of the refocusing effort Hope Network closed its Center for Recovery program earlier this year. Hope Network leaders say these moves are consistent with the non-profit’s legacy of adapting to the community’s greatest needs, and also empower the organization to pursue new innovation in key areas, including mental health.

The deal comes after Michigan made changes to auto no-fault insurance which has caused more than 700 patients to lose access to medical care they were promised. Additionally, at least 41 Michigan-based care companies have had to either close their doors completely or discharge patients, putting 1,500 healthcare workers out of a job as well. Hope Network leaders say they are proud Hope Network was able to continue to provide these services during this period and have found a way for patients to continue to receive care.

The Hope Network Neuro Rehabilitation locations will join other locations NeuroRestorative currently operates throughout Michigan. The deal is expected to close in a few weeks and patient care will continue uninterrupted through the transition.
