If you like music, you know that it can make a significant difference in how you are feeling.
Research has proven that music is able to enhance one’s mood and can often lead to enhanced quality of life for individuals facing life’s challenges. Music has been proven to relive stress and anxiety, fight depression, and encourage the expression of emotion among its numerous other benefits.
At Hope Network, we believe that God created us to be instruments of worship, and that he gave us the ability to sing and make a joyful noise unto him:
…speaking to one another with psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit. Sing and make music from your heart to the Lord,… (Ephesians 5:19).
…I will declare your name to my brothers and sisters;
in the assembly I will sing your praises (Hebrews 2:12).
Sing to him, sing praise to him;
tell of all his wonderful acts (Psalm 105:2).
Through our music outreach we see clients, especially the non-verbal, tapping their feet, clapping their hands, swaying, laughing, crying, eyes lighting up; or in the case of people living with dementia, singing every single word of a well-known hymn or folk song from the past. And perhaps, for those few minutes, they are able to visit that space where they are free to feel and express who they are.
If you are a skilled musician who would like to join us in making a meaningful difference in people’s lives, have the ability to play a musical instrument, and have an hour or two to spare, we would like to hear from you. Please contact us.
