What is a mental health emergency?
- When a person is experiencing symptoms and behaviors that can reasonably be expected to lead him/her to harm self or another.
- Because of his/her inability to meet his/her basic needs she/he is at risk of harm.
- The person’s judgment is so impaired that he/she is unable to understand the need for treatment and that his/her condition is expected to result in harm to him/herself or another individual.
