Our Speakers

Rev. Joan Cornelison

Pastor Joan is the Executive Director of Pastoral Services, and has served Hope Network since 2002. She is an alumni of Reformed Bible College (Kuyper) College, Grand Rapids, MI (Certificate in Christian Ministries-1997) and United Theological Seminary in Dayton, OH (Master of Divinity-2000). She is a bold advocate for people who live with disabilities and mental illness, and a passionate voice for faith, inclusion and compassion for all. Joan is a frequent speaker at churches and human service organizations across Michigan and motivates audiences with her deep insights, honest personal anecdotes of failure and triumph in her work and her vibrant faith. She never fails to leave her audience ready to go deeper in their journey with “the least of these” (Matthew 25:40).

Rev. Bruce Vaandrager

Rev. Vaandrager is an ordained minister in the Christian Reformed Church in North America. As a pastor with 20 years of experience, and an advocate for greater awareness and inclusion of persons with developmental disabilities or mental illness in churches, he is available to speak at education classes, community events, or specially-themed worship services. Specific topics can be arraigned upon request.
