Dr. Waalkes has over 30 years of experience in neuro rehabilitation, working for Hope Network Neuro Rehabilitation that entire time.

Martin is a Board Certified Rehabilitation Psychologist who oversees and leads the psychology team, psychology services, clinical activities, and clinical program development for all locations. He is active in providing neuropsychological assessments, counseling, and emotional support and education to our patients and their families.

Martin has presented at several national, state and regional conferences on a variety of topics related to brain injury rehabilitation, and is a published author in the Brain Injury Professional, the official publication of the North American Brain Injury Society (NABIS) and the International Brain Injury Associations (IBIA)

One of his recent accomplishments include leading the development of the Hope Network Acuity Scale© (HAS), a behavioral rating scale that identifies care workload relating to the support and supervision of adults with brain injury, published by The Center for Outcome Measurement in Brain Injury (COMBI).

Martin is a member of several professional organizations, including the American Board of Professional Psychology, American College of Rehabilitation Medicine (ACRM), the Brain Injury Association of America (BIAA), and the Division 22 Rehabilitation Psychology Practice Committee, part of the American Psychology Association.

He earned his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Michigan State University.
