Executive Vice President & Executive Director
As the Executive Vice President and Executive Director, Margaret leads all Hope Network Neuro Rehabilitation programs and locations, where we employ over 600 clinical, direct support, and professional team members.
Margaret’s impact on the well-being of people with brain injuries and the medical benefits of people who have yet to be injured are more than some can hope to achieve in a lifetime. She has been an advocate for individuals with catastrophic injuries since she started working at Hope Network Neuro Rehabilitation in 1994 as a direct support professional. Since then, she has worked on many public policy initiatives to expand care to those in need, testified on multiple insurance reform proposals over the years and has been an invited speaker at multiple town halls on the subject of auto insurance in Michigan.
Margaret has served in multiple roles for the Michigan Brain Injury Providers Council (MBIPC), the Executive Committee of the Coalition Protecting Auto No-Fault (CPAN), as well as the Brain Injury Association of Michigan (BIAMI). She is also a published author in the Brain Injury Professional, the official publication of the North American Brain Injury Society (NABIS) and the International Brain Injury Associations (IBIA).
She earned her Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE) in 2019 and holds a Master’s degree in Social Work from the University of Louisville in Kentucky, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science.

Director of Clinical Operations
Cheri has served on the Hope Network Neuro Rehabilitation leadership team for over 24 years as the Director of Clinical Operations. In this role, she oversees the program directors and all aspects of clinical services, including the development of rehabilitation therapy programs.
Cheri is also responsible for developing and expanding clinical services to meet the needs of the ever-changing diverse population of those we serve, while identifying new resources, training, facilities and technology that enables the therapy teams to provide the best treatment possible in their respective disciplines.
Cheri is a Certified Brain Injury Specialist, and earned her Master of Arts degree in Clinical Psychology and her Bachelor of Arts degree in in Psychology from Michigan State University.
Shane Kistler, MA
Director of Business Operations
Shane joined Hope Network Neuro Rehabilitation in 2010, where he leads the financial planning, capital expenditures, budgeting, contract negotiations, and return on investment analysis for new projects and capital spending.
Shane has a wealth of business to business expertise holding several financial leadership roles, including Vice President of Operations for Tomra North America, Inc., where he was responsible for all finance functions and supervised departments such as Information Technology, Field Operations, and Commodity Sales & Marketing.
Shane earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Business & Managerial Economics form Albion College and his Master of Science degree in Accounting and Business Administration from Walsh College.
Margaret Koch, BA, CBIS
Director of Vocational Services
Maggie has a demonstrated history of working in the vocational rehabilitation and return to work field for Hope Network Neuro Rehabilitation. As the Director of Vocational Services, she is responsible for program development, service delivery, trend tracking, and strategic planning. She leads a team dedicated to helping individuals reintegrate into the workplace by providing opportunities that help develop and enhance their professional, social, and functional skills.
In 2017, Maggie authored an article “Returning to Work after Brain Injury”, published by THE Challenge!, a quarterly magazine published by the Brain Injury association of America (BIAA). In 2019, she was awarded the Chairperson’s Award by the Brain Injury Association of Michigan (BIAMI), nominated by members of the Grand Rapids Chapter of BIAMI which she led for 25 years.
Maggie is a Certified Brain Injury Specialist (CBIS) and is a graduate of Aquinas College, where she earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology.
Elizabeth Lock, BA
Director of Business Development
Elizabeth has a breadth of experience in the neuro rehabilitation field, she’s held management roles in in business development, marketing, admissions, and transitional and long term residential.
In her current role, she leads the referral development, and marketing and communications departments, overseeing the strategic direction and implementation of comprehensive sales and marketing for Hope Network Neuro Rehabilitation. Her team has played a significant role in creating innovative ways to expand our reach and communicate our ability to provide services on a national level.
Elizabeth is proud graduate of Michigan State University, where she earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications.
Ebony Moore, BA, PHR
Human Resources Business Partner/Director
Ebony has over 18 years of operational and strategic leadership experience in the healthcare and retail fields. As a Business Partner for the Neuro Rehabilitation division of Hope Network, Ebony develops and implements strategies that support and sustain the functional areas of Human Resources and Employee Recruitment.
Ebony works closely with our leadership team to build and streamline processes for building an inclusive workforce and develop and promote leaders within the organization. In this role, Ebony also oversees a team of recruiters and generalists to support the organization’s overall strategic initiatives.
Ebony earned her Professional Human Resource certification in 2017, and hold an alumnus of Western Michigan University.
Martin J. Waalkes, PhD, ABPP, CBIST, LP
Director of Neuro Rehabilitation
Dr. Waalkes has over 30 years of experience in neuro rehabilitation, working for Hope Network Neuro Rehabilitation that entire time. Martin is a Board Certified Rehabilitation Psychologist who oversees and leads the psychology team, psychology services, clinical activities, and clinical program development for all locations. He is active in providing neuropsychological assessments, counseling, and emotional support and education to our patients and their families.
Martin has presented at several national, state and regional conferences on a variety of topics related to brain injury rehabilitation, and is a published author in the Brain Injury Professional, the official publication of the North American Brain Injury Society (NABIS) and the International Brain Injury Associations (IBIA).
One of his recent accomplishments include leading the development of the Hope Network Acuity Scale© (HAS), a behavioral rating scale that identifies care workload relating to the support and supervision of adults with brain injury, published by The Center for Outcome Measurement in Brain Injury (COMBI).
Martin is a member of several professional organizations, including the American Board of Professional Psychology, American College of Rehabilitation Medicine (ACRM), the Brain Injury Association of America (BIAA), and the Division 22 Rehabilitation Psychology Practice Committee, part of the American Psychology Association.
He earned his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Michigan State University.
Kris Witters, BA, PHR
Director of Quality and Compliance
As the Director of Quality & Compliance, Kris directs all quality and compliance systems for Hope Network Neuro Rehabilitation and oversees a great team that is responsible for ensuring compliance with policy, accreditation standards (CARF), Adult Foster Care Licensing, MIOSHA, HIPAA, and other regulations, laws, and contracts.
Her years of service in this role have helped Kris to understand what drives customer and stakeholder satisfaction and how to ensure the best possible care to our persons served through quality systems-reporting and data-driven performance measurement and improvement initiatives. In this role, she also oversees outcomes management, stakeholder satisfaction, recipient grievances and appeal processes, staff development and training, and safety and risk management.
Kris received her Professional in Human Resources (PHR) certification from the HR Certification Institute, and earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Cedarville University in Ohio.

Laura joined Hope Network Neuro Rehabilitation in 2018, where she oversees the program operations and leadership for the transitional, day rehab, and outpatient programs, including program development, financial management, and facility management for the Grand Rapids location.
Previously, Laura was the National Director of Rehabilitation Services for Trinity Health at Home, where she was the liaison to over 300 colleagues in nine states. Before that, she served in various leadership roles at Rusk Institute of Rehabilitation Medicine in New York City, specializing in neuro rehabilitation.
Laura earned her Master of Science degree in Occupational Therapy from Western Michigan University and her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Calvin University.
Marcy Bos, BS, OT
Program Director – Kalamazoo & Coldwater
Ms. Bos has been with Hope Network Neuro Rehabilitation since 1985, serving in multiple roles throughout that time. In her current role of Program Director she manages the business operations ensuring high-quality staff performance and service delivery.
Marcy splits her time between the Coldwater and Kalamazoo locations where she oversees the coordination of services and staff in the clinical, vocational, and residential areas, and the day-to-day management, program growth and development, financial management, budgeting, quality, and crisis and facility management for those respective locations. She also leads the development of new and existing programs to better meet the needs of the patients we serve.
Marcy earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Health Care Administration from Davenport University and is also a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant.
Kim Church, BBA
Program Director – East Lansing
As Program Director, Kim oversees all of rehabilitation programs, services, and staff for the East Lansing location, including case management, social work and physician services.
Kim has considerable experience in operations, marketing, management, finance, clinical services and process improvement. Prior to joining Hope Network Neuro Rehabilitation in 2017, she was the Program Director for Healogics, Inc., and the Regional Director for the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
Kim is a board member of the Michigan Brain Injury Provider Council (MBIPC) and is also active in various initiatives to support the Brain Injury Association of Michigan (BIAMI).
Kim is a graduate of the Michigan State University Eli Broad College of Business, where she earned her Bachelor of Business Administration in Arts in Marketing.
