Martin Waalkes, PHD, ABPP Sets New Standard With Board Certification In Rehabilitation Psychology

We are proud to announce that Dr. Martin Waalkes, neuropsychologist with Hope Network, recently obtained Board Certification in Rehabilitation Psychology.

Offered through the American Board of Professional Psychology (ABPP), Dr. Waalkes is only one of a handful of professionals in Michigan setting the new standard for TBI care.

Board certification ensures both health care providers and patients that they are receiving the highest level of expertise available. A certification in Rehabilitation Psychology indicates that a provider has met the standards in assisting people and their families with adjusting to chronic or traumatic injuries as outlined by the American Board of Rehabilitation Psychology.

Dr. Waalkes has been treating individuals faced with brain injury and spinal cord injury for over 25 years. Using his significant experience working in this field, Dr. Waalkes has given numerous professional presentations relating to brain injury and its effect on communication, behavior, and relationships. He is also a Certified Brain Injury Specialist Trainer with the American Academy of Certified Brain Injury Specialists. Currently, he leads the psychology department at Hope Network Neuro-Rehabilitation while continuing to provide behavioral evaluation, consultation, and support to patients and their families.
